Alexandre Schneider

Alexandre Schneider is President of Singularidades Institute, a Brazilian School of Education. He is a researcher at Fundação Getulio Vargas, a columnist of Folha de São Paulo, one of Brazil’s major media groups, and a Senior Research Fellow at the TLTLab.
He was Secretary of Education of the city of São Paulo/Brazil for two terms. In his terms, the municipality universalized pre-school attendance and reached 61% of the children from 0 to 3 years old enrolled in the city’s nursery schools. The city developed the first curriculum aligned to Brazilian Base Nacional Comum and UN’ SDGs under his leadership. He implemented robotics and coding classes for all the students from 6 to 14 years old. He has extended experience designing and implementing public policies in several areas like public safety, transportation, and education. In 2019/2020, he was a visiting researcher at ILAS/SIPA and also Adjunct Professor at SIPA. He has papers published in academic reviews like the Economic Journal and Journal of Quantitative Criminology.
