Carolina Sotério

Carolina Sotério is a chemist and science communicator currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Education at Columbia University. She recently completed an Honors Doctorate in Sciences at the University of São Paulo, with a collaborative period at Cornell University. Her dissertation focused on improving science communication training for STEM students to engage effectively with non-experts.

Previously, Carolina produced science podcast series for university radio stations and co-created the “Global Conversation on Sustainability” with the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), uniting young scientists worldwide to address the United Nations Development Goals. Additionally, she is the first international student to receive the American Chemical Society (ACS) Leadership Award for founding Brazil’s first ACS Student Chapter, dedicated to advancing science communication. Her interests include science education and communication, instructional media design, critical pedagogy, and constructionism.
